OBA MUFUTAU GBADAMOSI ESUWOYE II (OLOFA OF OFFA)
Born in 1963 to Alhaji and
Alhaja Mohammed of the Royal Family of Late Oba Esuwoye, of the Obatiwajoye
Compound in Offa. One would have expected him to be armed with the golden spoon
which is a grand feature of a man of royal background. In the case of Mufutau
Gbadamosi, the reverse was the case, as on his feeble hand at birth laid a
humble dirty wooden spoon.
The story of Oba Mufutau
Oloyede Gbadamosi, fondly called MB by his business associates, particularly
his ascension to prominence, is only and only to the glory of Almighty Allah.
Or who else could one have dedicated to? the weepy tale of a man of humble
background, who rose to the exalted position of a philanthropist and a giant
industrial octopus, whose business tentacles is spreading at a geometrical
rate? His story could well be likened to that of the proverbial plant which
grew among jagged rocks and dangerous thorns having been destined to blossomed.
To those who are well
acquainted with him from childhood, they would remember vividly his ordeal as a
child. When he was left in the care of his uncle who took him to sokoto and put
him on the glorious path of literacy. Born to be educated, he found a good
Samaritan in an uncle who took him to Sokoto and set him on the path of
education in the Public-Owned Mohammed Bankanu Primary School, Sokoto between
1969 and 1976. Having completed his secondary education at the popular Umaru
Teachers College, Gusau between 1976 and 1981, he enlisted for a National
Diploma in Building Technology in Birni-Kebbi Polytechnic between 1982 and
1983.
Mufutau Gbadamosi was known
to have a ravenous passion for education at his youthful days. His sheer
passion to be educated at the higher level, took him to the famous but
prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in whose shelf of honours he plucked
a Bachelor of Science Degree in Building Technology in a period that spanned
through 1986 to 1989. Between 1989 and 1990, he was a proud Youth Corp member
rendering a selfless service to his nation in the Katsina State Housing Authority.
His industrious nature,
commitment to duty and amiable personality endeared him to the hierarchy of the
Federal Housing Authority, who rewarded him with an employment in 1991 which he
honoured and was posted to Lagos until he willingly tendered his resignation
letter in 1997 to seek for a better and more rewarding greener pastures.
In his early primary school
days, Prince Mufutau Mohammed Gbadamosi had been exposed to the rudiment of
commerce. While after a hectic academic day, his Uncle would treat his
children who were his cousins to a sumptuous meal as they prepared for an
extra-mural class. Little Mufutau was never allowed to enjoy such luxury,
rather he would be sentenced to his uncle shop who was famous for his success
in Bread baking.
Kajola Bread was by then a household name in Sokoto city and its environs. It was a matter of routine, a development which he always considered harsh and callous. Unknown to him, he was keeping up with what would later be his fate at the threshold of commerce.
Today, it is to the glory
of Almighty Allah, that his latent exposure at his Uncle’s Bakery had
metamorphosed into trading acumen that has ushered him past the threshold of
commerce into its deep annals where he now sits comfortably as a business
mogul.
In spite of his prowess and
successes recorded in business in the last two decades, his path to success has
never been rosy unlike some who were born with silver spoon. After his
resignation at the Federal Housing Authority and subsequent venture into business,
his future laid at the mercy of the Almighty Allah. For he was met by
hostile and unfriendly world. In line with the prophecy of Almighty Allah… even
though, the world he was confronted with was dog-eat-dog one, he found a
passionate man in one Mallam Bashiru who rather than devour him took him to
Lagos to teach him how to survive the harsh realities of life.
The high point of Alhaji
Mufutau Mohammed Gbadamosi sojourn in Lagos was the routine mad rush after an
unfruitful day in search for work to get a far less uncomfortable space to hit
the sack in cubicle of a room shared by 29 other hustlers, including Mallam
Bashiru! This is one gory tale MB even at his present status as busy man always
found time to tell for no one particular reason than to summon courage in the
less courageous ones to put dukes and fight for success in the seemingly
unfriendly world. When MB cut his teeth in business in Lagos in 1998, he
started trading in commodities such as rice, sugar, salt, cement etc. As
time progresses, and through the dint of hardwork, passion and personal
commitment, he became an importer of Electrical Cables and began to own and
co-owned companies.
Today, his business horizon
have gotten so wide that he is the Chairman of MB Integrated Electrical and Data
Services Limited; Zarm Poultry and Feed mill industry with dual establishment
at Lagos and Ilemona-Kwara State respectively; Kanoffa Manufacturing Company,
Kano, MB Global Nigeria Limited Lagos, Zarm Pharmaceutical Nigeria Limited,
and Zarm Vegetable Oil Company among others.
Talking about his
personality, Alhaji Mufutau Mohammed Gbadamosi is a man of vigour, agility and
ability, endowed with an infrastructure of great and admirable character. He is
humility personified, unassuming, lovers of the downtrodden and a giver to a
fault.
